The biggest concert the Artemis Association has organized to this day was a generous gift from one of the most esteemed artists of his time; Kostis Maraveyas. Our beloved member Tina Tavridou is a personal friend with Kostis and made this concert a reality. Gadjo Dilo is a band that loves two things: gypsy swing guitarist Django Reinhardt and the Greek music scene of the ‘50s and ‘60s. Their music combines the above creating a mixture of manouche gypsy swing and traditional Greek songs.
The charity concert was an immense task for our Association who arranged its planning and publicized such a large event all over Athens and Piraeus but it became a successful one. We managed to fill all 300 seats of the Passport music stage. What was particularly beautiful about this event is that the venue was filled not only with Artemis Association members but also with young people who came to attend the concert not knowing its charitable nature. Hence, when Mr. Kontoyannis gave a speech on Hisiotycitic Disorders he addressed a fresh audience and attracted younger people who were interested in becoming involved and in spreading the word.
The gypsy swing energy by Gadjo Dilo was a perfect match to that of Kostis Maraveyas and their combination onstage left everyone with a groove they will long remember. In fact, Kostis and the lead singer of Gadjo Dilo who at the time was heavily pregnant, took a selfie video while singing the popular hit song “Ase me na mbo”.
