Dr. Stefaan Van Gool is a distinguished oncologist and pediatrician residing in Belgium and a member of the Histiocyte Society (H.S.) He is also a wonderful musician who has performed in numerous concerts alongside his wife and four daughters in Belgium, Holland and Germany.
The Van Gool family, who offered to cover for travel and accommodation costs, performed for the members of the Histiocyte Society during its 31st annual meeting, which was held in Athens.
It was a lovely gift to all the members of the society and the Artemis Association and we would like to thank him for it!
The concert was held the Sunday before Histiocyte Society Meeting began at the Theocharakis Institute amphitheatre. Stefaan plays the violin, as does Annie and Karolien. Marlies plays the harp, Stephanie the flute and percussions and Ann plays keyboards and percussions. Beyond that, the daughters sing accompanying music pieces from the early baroque as well as modern music. The family performed Heidel, Pachelbel and contemporary pieces from Leonard Cohen and Sinead O’ Connor.
Light snacks and beverages were served at the Theocharakis’ foyer, a kind donation of the Histiocytosis Association and Mrs. Eleni Kremou. Mr. Carlos Rodriguez-Galindo, the president of the Histiocyte Society attended, as did Mrs. Nevens from the Belgium embassy, the Kontoyannis family and many members of the Artemis Association. The concert which lasted over an hour and ended with a Yannis Markopoulos song to honor Greece was very successful.
